Dec 5: New washing machine!

Today, with the help of our TEARS support team, we got a new washing machine! Finally, some clean clothes.

A “Dominican” washing machine is a little different than what you may be used to. There are two seperate bowls, the first one agitates the clothes while the second spins them. It is the operators job to switch the clothes three times (twice through both sides) to get the clothes clean. Afterwards everything is hung to dry here.

We don’t really have a great location for it here. The input and output water lines are very short (not to mention fragile with poor connections). We may just manually add water with a large bucket.

On our first night the power gave out just after the load was started and we had to give up for the day. Oh well…
